‘Taking it to the Kids’ Initiative. Targeting every five to eleven year old in Leeds the scheme delivers 18 hours of free football training and healthy living advice at primary schools throughout the city.
Headed by the Leeds United Foundation Coaching Team and run in conjunction with Leeds United, Leeds City Council, Child Friendly Leeds and Network Rail, the scheme sees two Leeds United Foundation coaches deliver six week courses ranging from football technique to healthy eating and rail line safety.
The scheme sees two coaches spend 3 hours a week teaching boys and girls of all abilities. Not only do the kids get the chance to improve their football skills but they learn valuable life lessons that will benefit them for years to come.”
The decision to launch the scheme came following the successful completion of a four school pilot scheme at the end of academic term. Upon completion of the pilot scheme former Leeds United Captain and Club Ambassador Dominic Matteo visited Elland Road to celebrate with the kids.
