NEW FUTSAL F1 PROGRAMME KICKS OFF

The Leeds United Foundation is working in partnership with Futsal Leeds to develop a new Level 1 Futsal Course for learners between 16 and 18 years old. The 30 week programme, open to both males and females, includes coaching skills and employability qualifications alongside the opportunity to play the fastest growing small sided game in football. The players would attend the course on two and a half days each week, with sessions taking place at Elland Road and at the new Leeds Futsal Arena.

Education Projects Manager at The Leeds United Foundation, Alan Scorfield, said “We are really excited about this new programme as it gives young people the chance to develop their football skills while studying for qualifications that will help their career prospects”. He added, “The new Leeds Futsal Arena is a fantastic facility and it is a great opportunity to work together to help young people get into work in the sport and leisure industry.”

Successful completion of the course would give learners the chance to move up to a level three Futsal scholarship or to a full apprenticeship with The Leeds United Foundation. Learners may also be signposted to local clubs, to The Leeds United Girls Centre of Excellence, Leeds United’s boys’ development centres or to the Leeds United Ladies set up.

The course is planned to start in late October and young people between the ages of sixteen and seventeen who are interested in joining this exciting new course should contact Alan Scorfield on 0113 367 6015 or by email at alan.scorfield@leedsunited.com.
