The Premier League 4 SPORT (PL4S) programme started on 1st September 2009 and is being delivered in partnership with the Premier League, Sports England and the Youth Sport Trust. The funding will help in increase women’s and girls’ football aged 14+.
What does this mean locally to West Riding clubs?
Leeds United Foundation will run 12 satellite centres per week for 30 weeks to a minimum of 180 participants. There are three key aims: engage – get young females to try the sport for the first time – develop interest in repeat participation – make a commitment to competition and coaching qualification.
- West Riding County FA
- Charter Standard Clubs
What is a Female Football Satellite Centre?
Centres will run in partnership with suitable JFC clubs and secondary schools. Sessions will be available to young females, whether they are naturally talented or just want to try the sport. How does it work? The Leeds United Foundation will act as a hub linked to community clubs & schools to maximise opportunities for young females.
Who is a Female Football Satellite Centre for?
Female Football Satellite centres are designed to attract a new audience to football and help transition a percentage of females back into or into affiliated football for the first time. They are aimed predominately at 14 to 19 year olds; the age range when many young people drop out of football. They are not primarily aimed at the very sporty girls, who are probably in Charter Standard clubs already.
