Unbeaten United forge on in Ability Counts League
Following a strong start to their campaign in October the two senior teams from the Leeds United Ability Counts Programme continued their impressive starts in the West Riding Ability Counts League. The League 1 team enjoyed an unbeaten meeting with three wins and a draw. The most impressive performance of the day came against Leeds-based rivals Danby Rovers. United took an early lead in local derby and build on that adding a further four goals to emerge 5-0 winners.

Background

For over 10 years the Leeds United Ability Counts programme has prided itself on its provision of regular football opportunities for adults with a disability. Recently we have strengthened existing, and forged new relationships with a range of partners across the city and these have allowed us to further develop our existing provision through offering new sessions, enhance our communication networks allowing us to make people aware of the opportunities that are available, and finally to raise the profile of disability football in the city.

We currently run two adult disability football sessions where players can attend, train with players of similar abilities and develop their social, technical and physical skills in a structured supportive environment. Sessions are currently split into two distinct strands, engagement and participation (Level 1 session), and Development and Competition (Level 3/4 session). Each of the two sessions has a slightly different focus to suit the needs of the group however enjoyment, development and fairness are the core values shared across the programme.
